Educational Meetings PDF Print E-mail

For those wondering, yes there will be an educational topic presented at the business meeting for April. (at least as far as I know)

I wish to take this time to apologize for not posting this announcement sooner, but I just learned how to post in this area of the web site about 1 hour ago. In the future I will try to be more forthcoming on the educational topics for each month.

So without further ado my 1st presentation to the club in an official capacity will be on “THE BOIL”.

This started out as a joke and as a threat, I have previously posted that if there were not enough members who submitted ideas or suggestions for future educational meetings then I would force everyone to listen to me prattle on about “The Boil”. Which was the most dry and boring topic I could think of at the time. Just as a data point I only received 4 slips of paper when we had the meeting to submit ideas, and I believe 2 of those were from the same person! Thus 4 topics wouldn’t even get us past summer for topics.

Since then my previous threat/joke doesn’t apply. I have received many great ideas, and even have 2 volunteers to do future topics and am working towards a guest speaker. I plan to have some sensory tastings in the future. So please bear with me as I attempt to put all this together. And please come forward with more ideas on what you would like for future topics. And I am always willing to take, and am begging for volunteers to give a presentation either person or even as a group.

Oh and as a side note – I came within a hairs breath of canceling “THE BOIL” topic; because it is no longer needed. But, the more I think about it, the more I think it is a valid topic in its own right. Thus, if I can somehow, someway make this most boring of topics educational, fun and worth listening to; or at the very least unlike a college lecture hall then all will be good.

And as my parting shot, at least all of you listening will be able to enjoy many a fine homebrewed beverages whilst I prattle on. That alone should be worth the price of free admission.

Sincerely,

Jim Payne – aka Chesnok Red
